Happy Monday! How is everyone? We had a lovely weekend at our house–the perfect balance of worship, work, and play. Don’t you just love weekends like that?
Steps Back
This past week was a mixed bag for goal-setting. I have made it a goal to get up at 5:30 before my children wake up (you can read more about that in One Simple Thing That Has Completely Changed My Mornings). You want to know how many times I did that this week? Zero. Yup, I’m a shining example of self-discipline.
You see, this week my twenty-one month old decided that he wanted to wake up at 5:00 each morning. Let’s pray it is just a phase! My husband or I would go get him, give him a sippy cup of milk, and bring him into bed with us. That basically meant that we were all a little groggy each morning.
Moving Forward
I was excited, however, about two steps I took in the right direction.
1. I wrote for ten minutes each morning on my book! I decided to spend the first ten minutes that I was at my desk at school (away from the distractions of my house and before the students came) on focused writing. And it worked! I saw some real progress, even in such a short amount of time.
2. I signed up for Elite Blog Academy. It’s basically like an intense college course for bloggers. The curriculum is in-depth, the consultation with Ruth Soukup (of Living Well, Spending Less) is invaluable, and the community of bloggers is unparalleled.
I want to learn more about blogging and improve The Orthodox Mama, so I have decided to dedicate 15 hours each week for 4 months to the course. That’s a huge time commitment, but I know that it is in line with my priorities and long-term goals.
